Founded in 2020, The FireDawg Podcast was created by Matt Wilson and Ben Perry as a platform to connect, inform, and inspire the fire service community. With roots in the Department of Defense fire service, the show’s primary audience remains DoD firefighters and leaders; however, its mission has always been to deliver content that is relevant, practical, and meaningful across the broader fire service and public safety profession.
In 2022, Chris Bauchle joined the show, expanding both its perspective and reach by bringing additional operational experience and insight to the conversations. Continuing that evolution, Austin Perry was welcomed to the team in 2026, adding a fresh, youthful perspective along with technical expertise that further strengthens the show’s content and production.
The FireDawg Podcast is independently produced, with all post-production handled by the producers, ensuring each episode maintains a consistent voice, high production standards, and a focus on thoughtful, experience-driven discussions that serve the fire service at every level.
Mission
The FireDawg Podcast fosters learning and growth within the American fire service, focusing on leadership development, tactics and strategy, history and culture, selfless service, and firefighter safety.
Vision
We aim to connect every firefighter to valuable information while inspiring them to develop themselves and their teams.
